Sara Staggs, LICSW, MSW, MPH knows how challenging it can be to find the right therapist. That’s why she uses a client-centered approach that allows the client to move at a comfortable pace while continuously growing in the direction of recovery. She uses several approaches to help clients build insight, develop new skills, change habits and process trauma.
She is trained in the following approaches and uses these techniques in practice:

Sara is the author of After Trauma, a trauma blog on PsychCentral, one of the largest mental health web sites in the U.S.
Sara has a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Health. She was previously the Senior Trauma Therapist at the DC Rape Crisis Center where she provided individual and group therapy to adult survivors of sexual violence and supervised graduate students. Most recently she lived in Accra, Ghana where she administered a behavior therapy program for children and adults with developmental disabilities. She teaches a clinical practice course at Catholic University of America School of Social Service. She has previously worked with individuals with substance addictions, self-harming behaviors and serious, persistent mental illness.
