Benny specializes in working with adolescent and adult survivors of sexual and power-based violence. She has experience working with self-harm, suicide, and those who’ve lost loved ones to suicide.
Benny infuses mind and body approaches along with an intersectional lens while honoring each individual’s needs. She is able to provide therapy in English and Spanish and honors cultural and other intersecting identities.

In addition to working at The Viva Center, Benny is a contract Trauma Therapist at the DC Rape Crisis Center. Benny has also facilitated support and psycho-educational groups for survivors of power-based violence as well as for secondary survivors in both English and Spanish.
Prior to providing therapy, Benny worked on prevention education and training. She also provided hospital advocacy to sexual assault survivors and case management to survivors of various other crimes in DC.
Benny has also worked at RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network) on their telephone and chat hotline. Prior to moving to DC, Benny worked at a domestic violence shelter as a bilingual case manager and helped staff a suicide help line on her college campus.
Benny received her Masters in Social Worker from the University of Maryland in Baltimore and her BA in Women and Gender Studies from Rutgers University.
