The Viva Center is proud to offer a free, monthly, trauma-informed community yoga class. This class offers a safe space for students of all levels to explore their whole selves on physical, mental, and spiritual planes. The practice infuses mindfulness meditation, breathing techniques, and body posturing with somatic approaches to stimulate the release of stress and encourage a deeper connection with one’s state of being. Throughout the class, a multitude of modifications and props will be offered to accommodate the needs of all students. Arielle Mesa, LGSW is a licensed psychotherapist in the DC, Washington area. She is in the final stages of becoming an RYT-200 Yoga Alliance teacher and has been practicing yoga for 13 years. Arielle has received post-graduate training in healing trauma through the use of trauma-informed yoga and other mind-body therapies. In her clinical practice, Arielle incorporates mindfulness, yoga, and other somatic therapies to create a unique space for individuals to re-negotiate and heal from the full impact of trauma.
