Now that the trauma of racial bias is finally being discussed more widely in contemporary society, Sabra will teach how sandtray offers opportunity to uncover how these and related issues manifest through the symbolism of the sand scenes themselves. In this dynamic workshop, diverse healing disciplines will learn about the power of sandtray to explore ways to identify, evaluate, and address racial and cultural biases as they affect sandtray narratives.
Sabra Starnes, LICSW, LCSW-C, RPT-S, M.Ed, will help us consider the strengths inherent in cultural diversity and how they can be used to foster healing. As a Certified Daring Way Facilitator, Sabra will incorporate case videos and concepts from Brené Brown’s 10 Guideposts of Wholehearted Living (particularly the Gifts of Imperfection) to structure this action packed hour and explore this important aspect of any authentic therapeutic relationship. Sandtray making and witnessing by participants will be an important part of this experiential session.
IMPORTANT: for the experiential portion of this workshop, all registrants will need to use the Online Sandtray (created by Karen Fried) to participate.
* This HPG presentation will be recorded. For those who would like to attend, but find that the time of the presentation doesn’t work with your schedule, you may signup and get the recording of the presentation afterwards.
