As fall fast approaches, the relaxing essence of the summer begins to be blurred and overpowered by the stress and hectic life that the fall stereotypically brings upon us. Unfortunately, the thought of school starting, work becoming more demanding, and extra curricular activities taking up most of our week nights, we begin to feel stuck and trapped in a world of constant chaos, ultimately forgetting to stay true to ourselves and our well being. Forgetting to take care of ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually begins to catch up with us. While most of us may feel tired, fatigued, or emotional, our spirit also begins to lose its light, causing us to fall into a cycle of monotone, zombie-like traits. In other words, we begin to just go through the motions; not excited or open to welcome new things into our life. Why? Because the stress and havoc that this new season brings us begins to weigh us down. However, we shouldn’t be dreading a time where the leaves begin to change and the air is crisp and fresh in the wee hours of the morning. We should be welcoming the new season and letting go of the stress that it brings us. Just as the leaves begin to change and fall from the branches, we, too, should be turning a new leaf by welcoming change and new life into our life. By setting time aside for us, whether daily or weekly, our outlook on life and our new perspective on this season will keep the spark and light in our spirit alive. Lucky for us, we live in a world that offers a variety of holistic opportunities to help continue to guide ourselves toward a balanced, healthy life. At Viva, we are excited to be part of that holistic opportunity, offering a variety of holistic treatments to the community, serving each individual in the balance of mind, body, and spirit. This month, our featured workshop is our Soulful Sunday Candlelight Yoga class hosted by Alexandria Hall, offered every Sunday at 8:30pm. Not only is this yoga class a perfect way to start your week on the right foot, it also helps us de-stress while promoting a balance of our chakras, specifically, your base chakra, also known as the “root”, pulling your spine down to the earth, feeling stable, secure, and grounded. By aligning our chakras through yoga, you are able to experience a centered and balanced feeling, which gives us a peaceful and calming feeling, radiating through our body, giving us an open mind and spirit to tackle what life hands us. Also keeping in mind that breathing and repeating “om” throughout yoga sessions will also speak to our spirit, allowing our mind, body, and spirit to open up and receive the breath where it needs it the most. Although “om” originated as a spiritual sound and icon in Dharmic religion, it is used in yoga to symbolize the worlds of the soul; the three times, three divine powers, and three essences in one spirit. So, this fall, turn over the “hectic, stressful, fall season” leaf, and open yourself up to a season of balance. Alexandria’s yoga classes are a great way to start off the fall season right. Despite your level of expertise in yoga, this Soulful Sunday Yoga class is for everyone. Need a tip to get yourself balanced inside or outside the class? Just mutter the words “om” and connect with time. Whether that be your past, present, or future, connecting with any of those will help promote the balance you need this fall; let go of the past like the leaves falling from the trees, live in the present and let life change with the color of the leaves on the trees, and look forward to the future because just like the buds on the trees, your life will soon bud and blossom come the spring time.
