As a Viva Clinical Supervisor, Teayra brings a wealth of experience that enhances your experiences in the therapy room. With her guidance, you’ll discover the tools and resources you need to overcome obstacles, heal from trauma, and live a fulfilling life.
Teayra has had a wide array of therapeutic trainings, which she incorporates and shifts between to meet your needs. Some of these are: EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices.
I believe given the proper space and connection, we all have the willpower and motivation to overcome what troubles us most. Therefore, my goal is to provide each person with empathy, understanding and empowerment as we connect – one human being to another.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Teayra previously worked as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Aquila Recovery. Aquila Recovery is an esteemed intensive outpatient treatment facility in the DC area. During her time there, she provided trauma-informed interventions. She worked with clients dealing with addiction, trauma, emotional distress, and a wide array of other presenting problems.
Teayra has experience providing both individual and group therapy to individuals to better assist in the process of healing, growth, and learning through connection.
EDUCATION
Teayra holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Marymount University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the District of Columbia. Moreover, she is a trained therapist in EMDR and Brainspotting and employs them with her clients to move and integrate trauma held in the unconscious.
For the first visit, we will ask you to fill out the following forms.
Waiver of Liability & Informed Consent
Each of our Clinical Associates is a licensed practitioner. As required by licensure, treatment under a licensed practitioner is confidential. It also outlines the collaborative nature of the therapeutic relationship and co-responsibility for treatment outcomes.
Telemental Health Informed Consent to Treatment
Outlines components, limitations, risks, and benefits of telehealth treatment. Including what to do in the event of an emergency.
Financial Agreement
This form outlines The Viva Center’s financial policies, rates, and out-of-network status.
Client Questionnaire
This form serves 2 purposes: It helps to capture the baseline experience when beginning treatment, allowing for an opportunity to take stock of current status. It also helps the clinician gather important background information without taking extra time in the first session. The first page of this form is required, and the others are supplemental. It is fine to exercise the decision to leave out any areas of the form. Please keep in mind any areas elected not to be disclosed at this time may be relevant to treatment outcomes.
