Every day we are faced with a variety of choices.
“Do I drive or walk to work today?
Should I stop and get coffee on the way?
Do I have time to play with my kids or do I need to answer these emails?”
There are a multitude of routine everyday choices, but there are also circumstances where the choices carry much more weight. A lot of the violence and suffering that occurs on our planet can be traced back to experiences of trauma. Neglect, abuse, betrayal, violence. All results of choices made by individuals, which have a tremendous impact on others.
Today I met with a wonderful soul, Drew Joseph, who has made a choice to volunteer for “A House Within”—a non-profit dedicated to meeting the emotionl needs of foster children—as the DC area clinical director. What better way to make a choice that impacts our world than to commit to creating stability for children in foster care, where there is often precious little. As an adoptee who knows the impact of growing up in an unstable environment, I applaud Drew’s commitment to a vulnerable population of youth.
When we make choices from small to big, they have a ripple effect. When children find an anchor in a sea of instability, it makes a difference. When we choose coffee or not it makes a difference. What can you do today to move our world towards peace.
Please love and kindness!
