Maggie is particularly passionate about working with parents who are striving to heal from their own childhood trauma while raising children—true cycle breakers. With her guidance, you’ll find the support and understanding needed to navigate the complexities of healing while nurturing the next generation.
You are the center of your therapy process. The approaches, theories, and practices I bring support you as you process experiences, create your plan, and achieve mental wellness.
EDUCATION
Maggie holds a BA in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago and MAs in Military History, Journalism, Sociology, and Public Leadership from Norwich University, Mizzou, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and University of San Francisco respectively. She also holds a PhD in International Studies from Old Dominion University and is currently pursuing a MA in Mental Health Counseling from Marshall University.
EXPERIENCE
Maggie’s path to becoming a therapist is deeply rooted in her experiences as a Marine Corps veteran, where she served ten years of active duty, including three deployments to the Middle East. Since leaving active duty, she has served as an AmeriCorps VISTA, serving the under-resourced communities of Charleston, South Carolina and most recently as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Department of State.
During these years she witnessed first-hand the mental health crises accelerating across so many communities, including her native rural community, crises largely ignored or overlooked by those with the power to create, fund, and support the systems needed to address such pain and destruction. She is currently on a sabbatical from the State Department as she pursues her mental health education, clinical training, and licensure.
